What makes Radiantly Healthy MD and its providers different from traditional medical practices?

Radiantly Healthy MD is not just another medical practice but instead how medicine should be! You won’t find any 10-minute visits here! We spend an hour with you, evaluating, educating, and empowering. We start with an in-depth analysis of YOU. Our New Patient Paperwork orients our team to your health goals (called the 3 wishes). We analyze your lengthy personal medical history, your lifestyle, and nutrition. We order comprehensive diagnostic and laboratory tests to thoroughly analyze your current health. In addition, we discuss your relationships, your passion, and your support systems because we know these also impact health. That’s why we embrace the principles of Integrative Medicine and focus on the whole person: body, mind, emotions, and spirit. We also utilize the scientific advances of a systems biology approach, also called functional medicine. Our model of care emphasizes the partnership between the patient and the healer. All of this leads to a personalized comprehensive treatment plan that is tailored to you, your needs, and preferences.

What are Dr. Hunton’s background and training?

Our Medical Director and founder of Radiantly Healthy MD, Rebecca Hunton, MD earned her B.S. degree with honors at the University of Florida and completed her medical training at the Ohio State University. She is board certified in Family Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Obesity Medicine, Geriatrics and has certifications and fellowship training in Anti-Aging Medicine, Functional Medicine along with many others.  Dr. Hunton also instructs other physicians and medical professionals through her faculty appointment at George Washington University and affiliation with the University of Miami Osher Integrative Medicine program.

How soon can I get in for my initial New Patient appointment?

It only takes a few weeks! Currently, all new patients enter the practice through Lisa Johnson, P.A. Dr. Hunton has very limited new patient appointments which are reserved for very complex and complicated patients.  We use your new patient history to discern the best entry point into the practice. For mentorship purposes, those complicated patients are often seen jointly with Dr. Hunton. As the medical director, she is committed to ensuring that all patients get the same quality of care regardless of whom they are seeing.  She reviews nearly all new patient packets, incoming labs, and diagnostic tests.   Unlike many traditional practices, we have time set aside for our clinical team to meet and consult with Dr. Hunton.  Our practice is about serving you in the best possible way, so although you may start with another provider, your subsequent visits may be with Dr. Hunton depending upon the complexity of your situation.

What happens at my first appointment?

In your initial new patient appointment, your provider will gather information about your health history, recent symptoms, and concerns, to better understand your current state of overall health. We observe how you move, speak and appear to help assess your overall vitality and wellness. And most importantly we discuss your “3 wishes”, which for us are your main short-term/long-term goals for your health …and ultimately what you hope to achieve by partnering with us on your health journey.

From that visit, you will be given a lab order and diagnostic tests to complete. When your results come back (within 2-4 weeks) you will be scheduled for your follow-up appointment.  At that time, we will review your lab results, discuss the health implications of the findings, and give you a treatment plan for you to follow over the months to come.  These two visits are bundled into one fee which is due at the first appointment. This fee typically ranges from $525-600 less your reservation fee.   Your treatment plan may include prescription medications, herbal and/or nutraceutical supplements, and nutritional/lifestyle changes. The main component of BOTH of these visits is patient education.  Your provider will not only review your lab results and discuss the plan to improve your scores and overall health but also the WHY and HOW behind the symptoms you are feeling and the improvement you should expect by following your plan.

Are my visits covered by my health insurance?

We are out of network with every insurance plan, mainly because the length and complexity of our visits are not recognized by health insurance companies.  Many patients can file for reimbursement with their insurance company when they have out-of-network benefits.  We are happy to provide you with the proper documentation so that you may submit a claim to your insurance company.

Are my labs and testing covered by my health insurance?

Yes! Dr. Hunton and the clinical staff have the required licenses and certifications for covered diagnostic testing. CAVEAT: In today’s insurance world, your company may require that you utilize a specific lab (i.e. Blue Cross prefers Quest). Many of you have high deductibles and sometimes diagnostic testing is included and sometimes it is subject to the deductible. For those of you without insurance or with high deductible plans, we have contracted for self-pay rates that are significantly discounted from insurance pay rates. We will do our best to direct you to your most affordable option.

Is Radiantly Healthy MD a concierge practice?

No, we are not. Concierge practices are characterized by insurance participation with accompanying copays and reimbursements in addition to a membership fee! We offer slightly different options.

Can Radiantly Healthy MD be my primary care provider?

Since we are not contracted with insurance, you are not able to designate us as your primary care provider.

​

How many visits can I expect in a year?

That depends. Many of our patients are in the ‘tweak and maintain’ category. This means that they do not have significant ongoing issues but just need intermittent steering on their health journey. Those patients typically only see us 1-2 times a year.

If you are in the ‘discover and fix’ category, we may need to see you several times before you graduate to ‘tweak and maintain’. Depending on the complexity, it may be worthwhile to transition to membership after your new patient package.

Our goal is to have everyone on an annual or semi-annual basis.

Can Radiantly Healthy MD prescribe medications?

Yes! Our goal is to minimize medications and utilize natural solutions, however, we do prescribe medications when necessary. We also follow state safe prescribing guidelines along with any applicable federal or state laws regarding prescription medications.

Can I come to Rebecca Hunton, MD for a medical marijuana certification?

Dr. Hunton only certifies patients when they meet qualifying criteria.
If an existing patient wishes to pursue certification, it does require an additional appointment due to the documentation, consent, and paperwork requirements by the state of Florida.

If you are interested in becoming a patient solely for the medical marijuana certification, you must meet current qualifying criteria and have appropriate documentation. Currently, our certification fee is $750 which includes both the initial certification visit and the follow-up re-certification visit. As with our other packages, the new patient paperwork and a $100 reservation fee are due to schedule the appointment. The remaining $650 will be due at the time of the appointment. Nothing will be due at the second appointment.

Florida’s qualifying conditions include the following:
• Cancer
• Epilepsy
• Glaucoma
• HIV+
• AIDS
• Post-traumatic stress disorder
• Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
• Crohn’s disease
• Parkinson’s disease
• Multiple sclerosis
• Terminal illness (must be certified by another physician)
• Medical conditions of the same kind or class as or comparable to those listed (please discuss with a new patient coordinator to see if your condition qualifies)
• Chronic nonmalignant pain
Our purpose at Radiantly Healthy MD has been to reverse the causes of diseases and symptoms rather than the ‘pill for an ill’ approach. Medical marijuana is only one tool for healing and should be utilized as a part of a personalized care plan rather than to band-aid symptoms. Do I have to live in the area to become a patient?

Not! We have patients living throughout the world! Currently, the state of Florida requires that the initial appointment is in the office to establish as a patient. We utilize phone and Zoom for subsequent visits.

If you are coming from out of the area, there are many places to stay and interesting things to do here on the Space Coast of Florida! We love our beach town and can make travel suggestions!
